Holidaying In the Uk

Holidaying in the UK can be a very fine thing indeed whatever your budget then there is accomodation to suit , sadly at either end of the spectrum you can be disappointed . With a little careful planning you can have a such a glorious  time here in the UK and find many a hidden gem.

These pictures are from a quick whirlwind  visit to Scarbrough which I would love to go back and visit at a more leisurely pace.

And then I'll storm along the beach and even take my socks and shoes off.

 1. Think about the type of places you wish to visit and the attractions you wish to visit. Come August I'm going to squeeze in a visit to Stonehenge, Bealieu Motor Museum with my family. I've got to fine tune the details but I'll get there.

2. Think about your budget and wether you wish for meals to be included or eating out cheaply. Also think about what type of accommodation you want that will have a bearing on your budget.

3.  The obvious staying at home : the staycation exploring what is on your doorstep half the time you'll be amazed.

4. Be adventurous I would love to go on a narrow boat or stay in a castle or go glamping and toast marshmallows on a fire.

5. Think about what is happening in the season you wish to go , the Uk is amazing at any time of the year.

What Is blue ? #colourmyworld

What is blue ?

Blue is the sky.

It is your eyes.

Blue is a pencil.

It is a pencil pot.

Blue is a top.

It is a ball.

Blue is a river.

It is a drink.

Rustic Wholemeal Scones

Scones and Clotted Cream

I am very much of the moment type of person I get an idea in my head and just go with it , sometimes I have to hold myself back and plan more. Do you ever struggle and just want to rush out and do things ? , being Impetious can work. I think baking ,then going out and eat ing what I bake is beneficial to me not only am I learning and expanding on a new skill but I am also combining a love of the photography and the countryside.

Rolling Fields

Ingredients

To make 8 large scones you will need:

  • 175 wholemeal flour
  • 175 plain flour
  • 2oz (50g) butter
  • 4oz (112g) brown sugar ( optional )
  •   optional grated apple or sultanas
  •    2 heaped teaspoons baking powder
  •    200ml of Buttermilk or milk
  • I free range egg

Method

This is what you'll need to do:

First pre-heat your oven to 200°C
  1. Grease a baking tray
  2. Melt the butter
  3. Sieve together the flour, sugar (optional )and baking powder into a bowl
  4. Make a space in the centre of the mixture and pour in the melted butter , also at this stage at the egg ( already beaten)
  5. Mix together with a flat palate knife or  your hands if you wish ( just be careful not to touch anything )
  6. Add in the sultanas or apple at the stage if you wish
  7. Add the buttermilk or milk  adding a little at a time, this will make the scone mixture hold together without crumbling (not too much or the mixture will become very sticky)
  8. Either form into a round and shape each scone or just dollop on for a more rustic look.
  9. Place in the oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown on top ( keep at eye on them )
  10. Enjoy eating yummy warm scones with jam and cream ( Field is optional , this is my field *well I don't own it but I call it mine )

The Wonder Of Structure

I know, I have missed weeks of 356 , I can feel the voodoo pains as  I  am coerced into action , this week has seen me go to London to an event and then to the British museum . I am home in the museum not just because of my age but it is where I feel most relaxed , I see the objects , I feel the object I connect with the object. The British museum roof is a structure of beauty and it gets my architectural  toes all tingly and I could just stare at it for hours indeed when I was there the guard was regularly herding folk on as they were a tripping hazard.

The weekend saying me popping to the village and seeing the under 12 game  when it comes to football I can get all little glazed over so instead my eye wonders to the structure of nature.

As I gazed over the meadow I really wanted to skip through it ( I had had my antihistamine so pollen was not a problem today ) I know what you are thinking if you are of a certain age you think the little girl firm the Prairie is going to run down.

Lastly we cracked onto the local farm shop and it had this view of rolling hills and clouds that kissed the treetops a totally unstructured day ...
