B is for British Museum

I absolutely love the British Museum , if I could have been an archaeologist or Egyptologist  then I would have been in heaven.

I came to see the #8mummies which sees the unwrapping of #8mummies but not the unwrapping you might think of but by way of  3 D scanning and you see everything in a 3D visualisation.

The exhibition is achieved by showing what is underneath each individual mummy and their life story as or how the British Museum believes it to have been.

Staring into the face of the past, the Egyptians would have very much been at home with the likes of Hello magazine.

Ancient lives really aren't so different from our own in the sense that we project an image of ourselves on occasions the image we wish to perceived from.It was incredibly moving to see the #8mummies laid out before me and to see their stories. The mummies span over 4,000 years from the Predynastic period , the Christian era as well as mummies from sites in Egypt and the Sudan.

These #8mummies were living, breathing people with entwined lives and they call to us now to listen to their stories , the British Museum is highly respectful of the remains. The British Museum goes beyond the mask to show you the lives of the mummies as they people.

Egyptians had bad teeth that was an overwhelming  aspect of the exhibition , I am scared of the dentist but after seeing this I am going to be running as humanly possible to see a dentist.

Ancient lives , new discoveries is at British Museum till the 20th November booking is essential .

The Hand That Rocks The Cradle

What is blogging to you ?

To me it's my rambles , my musings , and a therapeutic cathartic writing  process.

I love to have threads , little ribbons on content that flow from one to another but sometimes I'll bob about and talk about the cat the nice one or the evil ninja one .

See with blogging the only person who will really judge you is 'you' the human condition will spark conflict but also there is hope, the human condition doesn't take sides.

And if it does does then you can be armed for words will be your friends .

Words.

Blogging to me is discovery , it making those Beetroot flapjacks , it is pushing myself forward , it is seeing the world chic unique.

On Tuesday I'm going to an event which is great and I am so greatful for that , not all us bloggers are going someone at the drop of a hat would you believe. After the event I'm popping off to the British museum to see the #8mummies back round again to humans but with stories in the bones. When I last went to the British museum I saw the Pompeii exhibition and when I close my eyes now everything else is stripped away.

Before me I see a babies cradle carbonused and it doesn't  rock.

It doesn't rock.

When the heat from the volcanic debris hit the cradle it carbonised the wood allowing us to see what it once looked like, it is preserved in carbon form.

Emotive.

Affected.

Sadness is that the cradle wasn't empty when the cradle was discovered , the small baby who dies in the volcanic eruption was found still in the cradles , under the blankets.

That to me is what blogging is about.

The human condition and how it drives the soul.

Top Tips For Walking And A FitBit Giveaway

Top tips for walking :

  • Know where you can and can't walk and know the rights of the countryside.

  • Learn what features on the map mean.

  • Always keep dogs on leads.

Walking it is free

Walking is a great way for families to out and about and it doesn't cost anything either, it is a pollution free way to get your daily exercise. And in walking not only are you being kind to your health you are being kind to the environment as well.

Exploring your local area is a good way to get started I have been in my local area for 10 years and I am still discovering places that I didn't know existed.

This is only 2 miles from me amazing !

Spending time together

With walking you can do several things at once like for me getting to work and taking pictures , also when I am walking with friends I chat to them as we go along our merry way. Enjoy nature , green spaces as it is a great way to relax and for kids to run off some steam or just to have a quiet moment to yourself.

A mile is only a 20 minute walk would you believe!.

Think about joining a rambling group

It is a good way of getting to meet people and you'll discover more and more exciting places.

Getting close to wildlife

You can get close to wildlife when you are walking I see all manor of creatures when I am out walking, there are many walking around natures reserves as well.  I see the outdoors as a fabulous extension of the classroom : a outdoor classroom. I often see the birds sweeping and diving above my head as I walk and I will often stuff and close my eyes and just listen to their beautiful song.

Getting Fit

I hate spending money to get fit if I am honest I am loathed to go to a dieting group it is just not for me , you have to have a strong will and put your mind to it. It is hard at first but practise practise with those feet and you will go miles and miles and achieve a smile ! So I have attached the  FitBit Activity Tracker to Mr T  and off he went (with the Fitbit  can check on your daily activity either on your phone or computer)

The water bottle received along with the Fitbit I am making good use of as well as it is important to stay hydrated when you are out walking and do make sure you wear a hat and wear suncream.

On my latest walk I was following the Nomad Way.

Life in the Slow lane

Life doesn't have to be all about being in the fast lane , if you haven't got the beautiful Derbyshire on the doorstep like I do but want to enjoy beautiful views and places and spaces then why not head over to Inntravel who specialise in slow holidays. With Inntravel you are not just limited to walking there is cycling , skiing , train travel so need to rush those beautiful views aren't going anywhere , they are just waiting for you.

a Rafflecopter giveaway Disclosure : I was sent a FitBit and a water bottle the same as which is being given away. Open to uk only

Ode To The Bullet Journal.

  • Ode to the Bullet journal .

  • I don't know you yet.

A Bullet Journal * picture courtesy of Nickie from Typecast

  • I didn't know that I need you but I do.

  • For today was the day that I found I needed you.

  • I woke with a sense of I should be doing something that uneasy nagging feeling that you can't quite shift . I live  in a digital world, everything is at my beck , flip or call . Is it on line ? can I access the information on my computer, phone, IPad or any other smart device?

  • So what did I forget was it to buy the milk ? the necessity in the start of peoples day ?

  • Was it forgetting to feed the cat ? so hungry it was ready to gnaw the postman's leg off at any opportunity.

  • Had I forgotten to pay a bill, would I be getting a phone call or a letter, a lovely shade of red.

  • Did I owe the government money * yes actually bless those Tax Credits ( sideways look)

  • When it is just you organising yourself you can sort of do it by remembering but it soon spirals out of control, more and more so the older you get, as the grey noggin revolts and declares "we don't need to hold that information"

  • It is not only the march of older age that leads us in organising failure it is also hectic lives, and those of our children, our children's children, wives , partners, husbands pets.

  • Think of an Octopus at a rave blowing  whistles and waving glow sticks then you have a sense of how I feel.

  • So down to the nuts and bolts of what I actually forgot.

  • WORK.

  • How could anyone forgot work.

  • Not a problem you might think but I was here.

I wasn't where I should have been !

  • OOPS.

  • SO I pedalled like fury like the character associated with the witch out of Wizard of Oz .

  • Bradley Wiggins had nothing on me and I wasn't overly late and still had the time to do the Cha Cha in aerobics.

  • It is basically old school analogue that answers a calling in this mad , mad digital world.

The long and winding road.
